It is only at the point of sale that you will be asked to provide payment information.
Q: I signed up but I changed my mind and don’t want to purchase. What do I do?
A: That’s absolutely fine. If you are successful in the draw and are offered tickets, you do not need to do anything. Simply do not complete your purchase within the sales window provided.
Any unpurchased tickets will then be released and offered to other customers who registered their interest in the Opening Ceremony during phase 2.
Q: Why can’t I choose my exact Opening Ceremony seat?
A: Like our sport tickets, exact seat locations will be assigned closer to the Games, with seats allocated by price category.
Q: I want to sit next to my family / friends. How will I know that this will happen?
A: We will always aim to seat groups together where possible.
However, due to the shape and configuration of the venue, we cannot guarantee that all tickets within a booking will be located directly beside each other.
Our ticketing team will work to keep groups as close together as possible during the seat assignment process.
Q: Will unsuccessful applicants be added to a waiting list?
A: If tickets remain available following the first sales window, a second wave of customers who registered interest will be invited to purchase tickets from 12:00 Friday 5 June. Those customers will be notified by email.
The Opening Ceremony is one of the most iconic moments of any Games so we know demand will be high and not everyone who applies will get the chance to be there.
Customers who register interest but are not selected for tickets and have opted in to receive updates from us, will still receive updates regarding future ticket releases.
